Two brothers fell into the river while visiting the Jamuna in Sariakandi upazila of Bogra. They went missing at the Pakuria graze of the Kajla Union on Friday afternoon.
The two missing brothers are Omar Ali (5) and Zahid Hasan (42). They are the son of Atikur Rahman, a doctor in the Atapara area of Bogra. Both are students of Shahin Cadet School in Bogra.
According to police and locals, a group of students from Bogra city went to visit the banks of the Jamuna of Sariakandi upazila to celebrate Eid. They rented an engine boat from Kalitala Ghat and went for a while. They were later named to play football at Pakuria Chara, the newly awakened in Kajla Union. At one point in the game, when the football fell into the river, the younger brother Zahid first went down to the river to pick up the ball. When Zahid started going down, his brother, Omar, was also named in the river. Later, both of them burst into the river.
Confirming the incident, Sariakandi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Al Amin said at first light that police received information and started searching for the missing two brothers. Fire service diver from Rajshahi has been informed. No one was found until 8:30 pm.
